To be announced

Description

A FREE Work Group aimed at Primary and their linked Secondary schools where a teacher from each phase (Yr 5 - Yr 8) will work together.

The Work Group participants will gain knowledge, understanding and experience of the curriculum at KS2 and KS3 and a clear understanding of what pupils leaving KS2 are expected/able to do at all levels of attainment. This will include understanding of the representations and structures used in both Key Stages and how these support the development of conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning.

The aim of the Work Group is that teachers will develop shared approaches to planning and delivery of the mathematics curriculum at KS2/KS3 and will disseminate their work across their linked Primary and Secondary Schools. Plus provide a consistent use of resources and representation (especailly for children working below ARE at the end of KS2) to give them the best chance of making good progress as they move from KS2 to KS3

The Work Group comprises 4 sessions plus intersessional tasks and there is a choice of two locations and dates as follows:

Work Group 1: St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Linkfield Lane, Redhill, Surrey, RH1 1DU

25 Feb (9.30am-2.30pm), SESSION 2 DATE TBC (9am - 12pm), 30 March (9am - 12pm), 18 May (9.30am - 2.30pm))

OR

Work Group 2: Ravenscote Junior School, Old Bisley Rd, Frimley, Camberley GU16 9RE

30 Jan (9.00am-3.00pm), 27 Feb (9am - 12pm), 26 March (9am-12pm), 29 April (9.00-3.00pm)

This Work Group is ideally for one Primary and one Secondary teacher to attend as a pair. Please liaise with your linked (feeder) Primary or Secondary school to ensure you are applying together for the same Work Group and do include the linked school's name in your registration (so we can match up your registrations).

Please Note: If you are a Secondary School with multiple Primary Feeder schools, then you are welcome to all sign up and work together as a group rather than a pair. Please do remember to indicate this on your registration so we can match you up.

Unfortunately we cannot accept single registrations from non-linked schools as the Work Group requires Primary and linked Secondary schools to work together.

All participants are required to provide an NCETM User Name. If you haven't already, please obtain one by visiting NCETM Join

NB. As with all our Free or Funded Maths Hub Work Groups and programmes, we are funded by the Department for Education and therefore have to prioritise State Funded schools. If spaces are still available we are able to offer these to Independent schools, however we will need to charge fees and these will be advised separately.
